A visit to the doctors this morning to get the results of the blood test I had last week and she has decided that the tablets I am on are just not working for me. From tomorrow I have to start on injections which knowing my hatred of needles she has been trying to avoid. I'm sure I will get used to it at some point and the upside is that taking the injections should kick start my weight loss which stopped when I went onto the new tablets. I've managed to maintain my weight but it will be good to see some positive results on that front for a change.
Never mind the coat I could soon be sewing myself bikinis.....I don't think....lol.
Not much to do in the way of housework today or cooking either for that matter as we are having a salad for tea.
More sewing time for me then 😊and today I'll layer up and start the quilting. After that it will be my most favourite job of making and attaching the binding. I find the hand stitching so soothing.
Well I could do with a coffee so I'll go and make one before I plug the iron in and get started on pressing the quilt top and backing fabric.

Sorty to hear about your blood sugar results, Sheila. DH has had Type 2 diabetes for 18 years now and has had his GB removed rather too late and suffered spleen and liver damage. His biggest fear is his eyes and he has had laser treatment in both to create new drainage as he has glaucoma in one eye. We eat a very healthy diet with lots of homemade soup etc in an effort to keep him healthy. His biggest fear is that he will lose his driving licence if the glaucoma worsens. It’s a familial problem and so our 42 year old has to have annual eye checks and blood sugar checks too. Hope you manage the injections-are you getting the wee pens? Norrie is on the maximum dose of oral medication and we are trying to get him to 70 before he needs to inject- it’s a silly target we know but we like a challenge! Take care. Catriona
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks Catriona. I must admit I was a bit annoyed with the results because despite all the odds I had managed to lose another two kilos so was expecting them to have dropped a bit but they had gone up.

I'm sorry to hear you have to go onto injections. I'm a fellow type 2 sufferer (tablets only), so I can understand your reluctance to needles. I'll let you into a secret - my annual check with bloods, etc was due in June '17. So far I've managed to delay it as I order my repeat medication on-line. My reason for this is that the previous year (2016) I almost managed to reverse my diabetes and my GP halved my tablets from 4 to 2 daily. I then fell off the wagon with slimming and have since re-gained some of my loss. So, my plan is to get back on track in the hope that I can stay on 2 tablets and not have to go back up to 4 (which played havoc with my stomach). I've booked my blood tests in for 2nd March (8 months overdue) so have a few weeks to lose some timber and hopefully get a good HBA1C. Sometimes it's such a battle to get good numbers!!

DeleteI also order my repeat prescriptions online but I am only allowed to order so many before I have to see the doctor to get another prescription so it's not possible to delay mine.

ReplyDeleteOh I feel for your Sheila. I have a terrible fear of needles and I'm not sure I'd be able to inject myself, I'd have to get Mark to do it - after catching me of course! Will you always have to inject now or could it change? xx
