The Beast Is A Bit Of A Wimp!!!

Well at least he is round here.
This has been the view from my window for half an hour this morning.......

The biggest flakes we have had so far and now it has stopped and the sun is coming out so it will either melt or blow away when the wind gets up.
I am so over it now. I love it but I want the proper stuff.

It is colder here today though so with that in mind there is a pan of minced beef and onions simmering away on the stove. Half will be cottage pie for tea tonight as Ruby will be here and she does so love cottage pie. The rest I will add some veg to and make it into a stew to serve up with some dumplings tomorrow.

After tidying up in the sewing room yesterday I sat and drew out my plan for the next quilt. I was hoping to make a start on cutting up the fabric but it got too dark by the time I had done a couple of other jobs and cooked the tea. Andy has promised me a new light when he is off for the week at Easter.

The bookcases were put on the list for the weekend until I realised that I will be out for most of it doing Ganma duties and looking after my girls while Mummy is on call for a few hours so that job is now shufted over to next week. I could do it today but it will involve making a mess which I won't have time to clear up properly before Ruby gets here.
They're not going anywhere so next week will do....lol.

OK.....I think a nice cup of tea is in order before I do anything else.
Stay safe and warm if your beast is more beastly than ours.

Where Is It Then?!!!

Today is supposed to be our day for snow and what do we have....blue skies and sunshine.
Admittedly there are a few heavy looking clouds scudding across but that is it.....and I don't think it's even that cold outside.
Oooooh update on that.....it has just started snowing quite heavily.

I should be sorting out the two bookcases in the living room today. One wants emptying and moving out and the other needs a good tidy up but ya know what....I just can't be bothered with it...lol. Instead I have some sorting out to do in the sewing room. Part jelly rolls need re-rolling and I have some batting pieces that want piecing together to make usable pieces. There is a pile of fabric waiting to be cut ready for my next quilt and some unfinished projects to be bagged up and stored to be finished at a later date of which most are awaiting fabric purchases when I can find what I want. Looking at the list of traders for the quilt show at the racecourse I am sure I will find something there as there are some really good traders signed up to take stands.

Breakfast for tea tonight as I have some bacon and some eggs that want using up. Andy will be very happy about that.

Hope you are all having a warm and snuggly day.

All Sewn Up!!!

Well the skill trade worked very well yesterday. I got a lovely lunch in exchange for a neck cushion and a little mat for Smudge to lie on.

I used a remnant of fabric from Dunelm £1.50 big enough to do the front and back and some offcuts of wadding.
The bone motif was a bit of an afterthought so isn't as neat as I would have liked but Smudge dog likes it.

After a couple of evenings using our new furniture we are very happy with our choices. We have gone for smaller pieces in a black leather look finish....a small sofa and two gorgeous armchairs. Andy has one of those bentwood armchairs that feels like you are going to fall through the wall when you sit on it. Not quite my thing but he likes it.
We also bought a nest of two coffee tables...one for between the two armchairs and the smaller one goes by Andy's chair so now there is somewhere for us all to put our drinks.
The next thing is to decorate so I am now looking at wallpaper for the chimney breast wall and two different colours of paint for the rest of the walls but I won't be starting any of that until the weather warms up enough to have the windows open as I can't stand the smell of new paint.

Today I am doing a bit of cooking and making a curry from scratch. Heaven knows what it will taste like but I wanted something hot and filling for DD to come home to after being out in this biting wind and snow.
We don't have much snow today....according to the weather forecast we will be getting more tomorrow and then small amounts for the rest of the week.

Right....I am off to prep everything for this curry and make Andy a drink before he goes to bed to get his sleep in before his night shift.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Ticketty Boo!!!

Thank you all so much for your get well wishes. I have recovered from whatever it was that me sick although I'm still not sure if it was something I ate or just a 24 hour stomach bug thing.

So sorry for not posting yesterday but it was a super busy day.
Andy and I were up early and out to get to Ikea and crikey me....the whole place is in uproar. They are changing everything round and the entrance wasn't where it was the last time I went, the restaurant has been moved temporarily and things squished into different places.
I am so glad I went with a list and didn't need to browse and apart from the six metres of fabric that landed in me trolley the list was adhered to.
Back home and the two old sofas were turfed out onto the front lawn, the new furniture bought in and built and voila a new look living room which will also get a coat of paint and new curtains in a few weeks when DD is on annual leave.

Andy has had an armchair of his own choosing and but needs a neck pillow for the optimum tv watching head position and Smudge needs a comfy pad to lay on as he is making out that he can't jump up onto the sofa....although he can when nobody is looking...lol.
So today I have done a trade.....Andy is cooking lunch and I am sewing the cushion and the pad from some stash fabric.

There was a hard frost this morning but now the sun is out and the wind is blowing. It looks like it will be a nice day.

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend.

It All Went Downhill !!!

I had a lovely afternoon/evening with Ruby yesterday.
Heard all about the trip to London and the theatre which she thoroughly enjoyed.
A lovely meal out at The Wing Wah Chinese buffet......Ruby's most favourite place to eat.
We dropped her home afterwards and I went to bed pleasantly tired and expecting a good night of sleep. I managed until 2am then woke with the most dreadful stomach pains and spent pretty much the rest of the night in the bathroom. I am exhausted this morning.

Today Andy has had to take Smudge to the vet as what we thought was a chest infection....which did clear for a while after a course of antibiotics......has come back. The vet now thinks that it is his heart and they have also discovered that he is going blind. My poor, poor little boy.
With the Cushings under control now we had thought that things were looking up. His coat is back to it's usual glossy gorgeousness and his little eyes are as bright as buttons again.
Now he is on four lots of medication and I am dreading trying to get those down him as he is not a fan of tablets.

I think me and my boy will just have a quiet day today. I feel the need to give him lots of cuddles and attention and to be honest I don't feel like doing much else so a cup of tea and a bit of daytime telly sounds like a good plan.

Just want to say a huge thank you to Pam for the Thangles. I will try them out and let you know how I get on. I'm excited to see if I will finally be able to do decent triangles.

Hope you all have a good day.

Done!!!

The quilt top is finished..........

The binding is made........

The leaf is what I am hoping to free motion quilt into each of the blocks. If the blocks had been square I would have liked to have done a Nautilus shell as the fabric collection is called Tidepool but I think the leaf should be OK.
The binding is made from half strips sewn together and I think it will look lovely around the black.
Now I just need to find the fabric for the backing.

Very chuffed to get a phone call from my son this morning to ask if Ruby can come visit this afternoon so I am expecting her at 3pm. She has chosen her day well as DD is taking me out for tea tonight so she gets to come too before we go for a wander around The Range.

I'm just going to have a light lunch and a much needed cuppa now and then I'll get tidied up ready for my visitor and with no cooking to do we will get to play for a while.

Hope your day is as you like it to be.

Where Is Me Ruby?!!!

Well I will tell you where she is..........she is currently in London for the day with Mummy.
Part of her birthday gift from Mummy and Daddy was a trip to London which she knew about. What she doesn't know is that the trip includes a visit to the theatre to see Matilda the musical.
She will be beside herself with excitement when she finds out.
I'll miss her today but I have had early morning photos sent of them having breakfast on the train and Ruby's face was like a little ray of sunshine.
Marlowe is having a Daddy day so I expect she will be getting spoilt rotten...lol.

With just a simple meal on the cards for DD and I tonight....bits and bobs from the freezer....the end of a bag of chicken nuggets, some Mozarella sticks and maybe some vegetable spring rolls with a bowl of salad and some dips.....I will be able to have some sewing time and finish putting the quilt top together. I will then have to put it to one side for a little while as I have decided that I don't want to back it with plain black. There is a visit to a local quilt show at the racecourse coming up in April so I am hoping to find what I need there.

DD came home with news last night that the powers that be where she works have decided that her team need to start working weekends again. We have just got used to being free to do what we wanted at weekends and have Sunday lunch at a reasonable time but there is a bonus that every four weeks she gets a four day weekend so that can't be bad and luckily the new rota doesn't interfere with my birthday trip to the quilt show. She seems happy enough with the arrangement.

Just a couple of jobs to finish up and then I will be cranking up the machine and having a peaceful afternoon.

Hope your day is good too.

Some Necessary Spending!!!

This year we will be spending from our savings on some more essential house maintenance. Nothing exciting....just the replacement of some rendering that has broken down on the side of the house and around the extension which is my sewing room.
We have the builder lined up but just need to wait for good weather before work starts.
There is also quite an urgent need now to replace the sofas in the lounge. We have pushed them to their limit I think and they are very uncomfortable now so on Saturday Andy and I will be off to Ikea to look at replacements.

Today I have a little ironing to do, a bit of tidying and hoovering and then I will get back to the quilt. I have two rows put together and it is starting to look really nice.
A decision has been made on the quilting which hopefully will be simple but look effective.

Right....I will go and tidy up the kitchen before Andy goes to work and then as soon as he's gone I can get on with the rest of it.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Monday 19 February 2018

Mizzly Monday Morning!!!

Gawd....it is absolutely horrible outside today....so damp and utterly dreary.
To cheer things up a bit....and also to get warm I am going to make a huge batch of bolognese sauce. I think DD and I will have some for tea, Andy can have some for lunch tomorrow and then I'll freeze some with spaghetti added for pack ups.

The quilt blocks are all finished and trimmed so this afternoon I'll sew them all together to make the quilt top, make the binding and then try and decide how I am going to quilt it. At the moment I only do straight line quilting and I think this could do with some free motion quilting which I will have to practice first.
I also need to try and make an extension table for my machine to support all the fabric while I am quilting. We have some of the bathroom wall board material left which I think should be ideal so I will have a go with that.

As always there is laundry to be done but there doesn't seem to be too much so it should get finished today.

.....and that is me for today.

Anything exciting happening in your little corner of the world?

Stash Sharing Sunday!!!

It's a bit dull and dreary here today so I thought I would brighten up my post and share the lovely fabrics I purchased yesterday.
Bargain fabrics...100% cotton at £3.50 for a one metre piece but these tend to be end of rolls so sometimes have factory markings on the end which have to be cut off. No worries though as I think these may be destined to be part of a quilt.

Derby market £5 per metre. All 100% cotton. The green floral is just to add to stash as is the turquoise plain. The red stripe is to make candy cane binding for a Christmas quilt I am planning.

I'm starting a collection of blenders as I am woefully short in that department. These are from Hobbycraft £8 per metre but I just bought half a metre of each as there is quite a large selection of them.

Now I just have to find room to squish them into my storage boxes.

DD is cooking lunch today.....stuffed chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with all of the traditional sides.
Andy is pottering and after reading the papers I shall be cranking up the sewing machine to finish the blocks for the coin quilt.
Dancing on Ice and Call The Midwife tonight so all in all a perfectly perfect Sunday.

Hope you are having a perfect day too.

In Early And Back Out Again!!!

DD and I were in Derby just as the shops opened this morning and she got straight in at Super Cuts so I went off round the market. A lot of the stalls hadn't opened yet and one I particularly wanted to visit wasn't even open by the time we left at 10:30am...grrrrrr.

Managed to pick up most of what I needed though...plus some fabric that I wanted but didn't really need.

Back towards home with a quick diversion to Hobbycraft and then into little town for a small top up shop.

Hot Dogs have been offered and happily accepted for tea so I can have a couple of hours or so folding my new fabric onto boards.

It was lovely to be out before the traffic got heavy and the car park got full. There's nothing I dislike more than driving round and round a car park trying to find a space.

The weather is pretty nice today here so I hope it is for you too.
Have a fabulous weekend.

Friday 16 February 2018

Late Today!!!

I'm a bit late getting to my blog today.
Andy comes in from night shift an hour earlier on a Friday morning so he was in at 6:40am and up out of bed much earlier than usual so I have been able to get all my jobs done.
This has left me a few hours free this afternoon to get on with starting to add the black fabric strips to my Bali Pop blocks.
I am working in a lovely clean and tidy sewing room with a bit of sunshine coming through the big window and it's absolute bliss.

Andy is cooking a late Valentine's meal today so the only truck I am having with the kitchen is to go and iron my blocks as I sew them.

Tomorrow DD and I are off to Derby...again. She wants to get her hair cut at Super Cuts which is right by the market so I can go and have a wander round there by myself for a bit. I'll be looking for some fabric suitable for backing this coin quilt and some batting.
Sunday will be a nice peaceful day at home.....unless someone tells me otherwise...lol.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

The Last Bag....For Now!!!

I could sit and make these bags all day long but I have to move on to something else for a while.
This one is for Marlowe....a miniature version of Ruby's bag and just the right size for her to play at shopping with all the play food she has with her little kitchen.

That is the last of the unicorn fabric and all that was thrown away were tiny trimmings that were neither use nor ornament so I am really pleased with that.

Today I need to tidy off the table so that I can crank it up and get on with cutting strips of black fabric while I have natural light to do it in. I was going to do it last night but the overhead light isn't good in my room.....until Andy replaces it......and I was having trouble seeing the lines on the quilting ruler against the black so I gave up and watched some Rome with DD instead.

I have been begged for another cheese and potato pie for tea tonight so I am just about to go and make that so it can stand a while and let the flavours mingle before it goes into the oven. This is DD's most favourite thing to take for her lunch so I'll make a smaller one as well that can be divided into portions and frozen for her.
The soup I made yesterday turned out really nice so I am going to have a bowl of that for my lunch today. I don't very often have a hot lunch so it will be a real treat.

This morning started off with a beautiful blue sky and some sunshine and if that wind would drop I think there might be some warmth too but the clouds are rolling in now and I expect before long we'll be getting some rain.

Hope you are all having a lovely day.

Confused Of Staffordshire!!!

Our electricity supplier decided that as the readings I sent in and the readings the meter reader took were wrong that our meter was faulty.
This morning a new meter has been fitted but the guy doing the fitting thinks that we need a different kind of meter as we have no storage heating or immersion heater and we need to get in touch with our supplier to sort it out.
They can't do anything until the new meter fitted today has kicked in.
I am totally confused by the whole thing.

Late starting on jobs this morning as I had to drag everything out from the under stairs cupboard and now it all needs putting back. Hoovering will have to wait until Andy gets up so I am going to spend some time in the kitchen making soup and cauliflower cheese. The soup will be for the freezer and the cauliflower cheese for tea tonight with some sausages.
Once that is done I have to make another bag but a tiny version for Marlowe. There looks to be just enough unicorn fabric left to do that and then I am hoping to get some strips cut to finish off the Bali Pops Coin quilt.

We've had a bit of snow this morning for about ten minutes but it looks like we'll be getting rain for the rest of the day.
It's flippin' cold so looks like the kitchen is the best place to be for a while.

What are you all up to today?

Bag Lady!!!

Good Morning Blogland.
Well not such a good morning here. It's wet and cold with a stiff breeze that is just about whipping the hairs off me legs when I go across the yard to the dryer.

I made a bag like Ruby's for DDIL yesterday but using a different fabric. DD came in and saw the fabric I was using and said she wanted one so today I will be making my third bag in four days....and I might even make one for myself.
Good job they are so quick and easy to make.

Miss Ruby will be here for tea today so I am making meatballs in gravy with mash and veg and I have put a jelly to set for pudding so she will be a happy little girl. Andy will also be a happy little boy....he loves his jelly.

I think Andy has his dates mixed up. Yesterday I received a dozen red roses and this morning I found a Valentine card propped against my sewing machine.
He's not good with dates bless him. He wanted to surprise me with a trip to Ireland for our 30th wedding anniversary only we ended up going a year early because he got the years mixed up.
It's a good job that I am now the calendar keeper in this house....lol.

All the jobs are done for now so it looks like I might be able to squeeze in a bit of sewing time before I have to go and prepare tea....yay to that.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Beautiful Things!!!

You may need to make yourself a cuppa and pull up a chair for this picture heavy post.

My heart nearly stopped when I found these sari borders at the bottom of the box. These will be used to embellish bags or cushions.

More sari borders.

There was a lot of lace but these pieces were my favourite.

I have some Paris themed fabric I could use to make a bag and embellish it with this.

This will also embellish a bag when I find the right fabric for it.

I have three of these and may use them to embellish some black t shirts.

I have an idea for a dress for Ruby use these as I have several of them.

These would make lovely patches on a denim jacket or jeans....even though I don't like brown.

There are a few of these...maybe bag embellishments.

Not so many of these but again....bag embellishments.

Another heart stopping find. I know exactly what I am going to do with these. There are sixteen of them so they will be sewed to a circle of fabric and then I will trim the fabric following the design to make a cloth to go over a cream tablecloth on the Christmas table.

This might become a neckline embellishment on a dress for Ruby. I have a few so might also embellish some bags.

There are fifteen of these. I am thinking of a white summer dress for either Ruby or Marlowe with these sewn around the hemline.

There was so much more in the box....ribbons, cords, fibres, zips, embroidery threads, velcro, braids....I could go on and on but I am sure you are all quite bored now.

It's going to be so nice to think of Maggie as I am working with these materials and it would make her happy to know that they are being used.

We still have some snow on the ground although it is melting slowly now.
It was quite treacherous first thing though as it had frozen over. It took poor DDIL two hours to get to work this morning so she will now spend the rest of the day trying to catch up with herself.
I have no intentions of going anywhere apart from across the yard to the tumble dryer.

Stay safe and warm.

A Bag For The Birthday Girl!!!

Sorry for being MIA yesterday.
I nipped out to Hobbycraft for a while as I needed some thread and some other bits and then when I got home I had to get cracking on a shopping bag that Ruby had requested after I bought her some unicorn fabric when we went shopping last weekend.

It has been delivered this morning when we went for her birthday breakfast and she was thrilled with it....and the small gifts we gave her so that she had something to open.
DDIL loved it too and has asked me to make her one to use a bag for carrying her lunch as I have made a smaller version for Ruby so it doesn't drag on the floor.
I'll start it today as it's the perfect day for sewing with us being in the middle of a snow/hail/rain blizzard. I just need to sort out some fabric and lining.

Andy is cooking lunch bless him so all I have to do is run the hoover over after lunch because Smudge has been snarfing carrots again and he's a very messy boy.

I hope you are all warm and snuggly in this miserable weather.

Frazzled!!!

Well the journey as expected was a nightmare....so many confusing roundabouts it's ridiculous and thrashing down rain didn't help matters much.
We arrived much later than expected but it was good to sit and talk to Maggie's partner and get to know him better.
I had never visited Maggie's house while she was alive so it was lovely to be there and to see the room where she created so much beautiful art work.
I was given the hugest box of sewing materials which has taken hours of sorting out and there are some beautiful things and some very useful things. I'll show you the beautiful things when I get a photo of them and as for the useful things....well.....let's just say.....I will never have to buy elastic again that's for sure...lol.
Maggie will be having a good laugh at me as I am quite puzzled by the amount of knicker edging elastic there is.
The visit did do some good and I slept very soundly last night with no nightmares although I feel very strange today...rather limp and slightly frazzled round the edges.

Anyhoo I am just pottering....again!!!
A simple tea of sausages and tomatoes with crusty bread for supper when Andy gets in at 7pm and nothing much wanting doing in the house so being a bit limp doesn't really matter today.

Hope you are all having a good day.

Thursday!!!

I have just got out of what was supposed to be a nice relaxing bath and rather than feeling relaxed I feel all hot, bothered and crotchety.
All nerves I think as I am not looking forward to our journey tonight. I really don't like going to places I don't know very well and of course most of it will be in the dark.
I'm just glad DD is driving.

Just fiddling and faffing today as I can't settle to anything but I will tidy the kitchen and run the hoover over to leave it tidy for when Andy gets in tonight.

Thanks so much for comments yesterday.

Wednesday 7 February 2018

It Just Smelled Sooo Good!!!

No cheese and potato pie for tea tonight.
It smelled so good when I had made it that I decided DD and I would have it for tea last night instead.
Ruby still had her tomato soup though. She wouldn't eat the pie as it has onions in it....she can spot a fleck of onion at fifty paces....lol.
I have had to come up with something else for tonight so....a bag of frozen cauliflower that wants using, a little white sauce and maybe some peas and Charlotte potatoes all served with a lamb gravy and some mint sauce. It's what I usually make from leftovers when we have had lamb on a Sunday and I call it Sunday Dinner Soup. Very satisfying eaten out of a bowl with a spoon while we watch something either on tv or dvd.

I won't be cooking tomorrow as we have to leave home as soon as DD gets in and gets changed to travel to Leicester. We are going to visit my sister Maggie's partner.
Since Maggie passed away in May last year he has kept her craft room just as it was and he would like me to go and see it and also collect some things which he thinks I should inherit.
The only time I have ever been to Leicester was that awful night when we had to rush there to see Maggie before her life support was turned off. We got hopelessly lost and ended up at the wrong hospital and then couldn't find the right one until we came upon it by accident and we only just made it in time. I still have nightmares about it now so I am hoping that this visit will be healing.

Right....I'll go and finish prepping the meal and then I have a load of tea towels that want folding.....but definitely not ironing.

Hope your day is good.

Tuesday 6 February 2018

In The Kitchen!!!

It looks like most of my day today will have been spent in the kitchen.
Andy decided he wanted Toad In The Hole for his lunch so I have just cooked that with some veg and gravy. The cheese and potato pie didn't get done yesterday as I came over all flopsadopsical and hadn't even the energy to peel the potatoes so that needs to be done today but won't get eaten until tomorrow.
Ruby is coming after school today so we are all having tomato soup with toasted cheese sandwiches.
Once I have washed up after tea I ain't going in there again until tomorrow.

I won't start on any sewing as it is surprising how quickly the time goes between Andy going to work and Ruby arriving so I'll just tidy and finish off some laundry and leave the sewing until tomorrow.

.....and that is about how interesting my day will be....lol.

Hope you are all having a nice day.

The Weekend That Whizzed By!!!

Honestly.....I just don't know where this last weekend has gone. Such a lovely weekend it would have been nice to hold onto it for just a little longer.
Ruby was thrilled to be taken by Aunty DD to her favourite restaurant on Friday....The Wing Wah Chinese Buffet.
The rest of the evening was spent watching Pitch Perfect 2 and the new Frozen short.

Saturday was a miserable day weatherwise with rain and snow bucketing down all day but that didn't dampen our shopping spirits at all...lol.
Ruby shopped until she dropped spending her birthday money on some clothes, some toys and some crafting goodies. Ganma was a little more restrained and just bought necessary fabric and a bit of indulgent fabric plus a couple of boring bits.....interfacing and Heat 'n' Bond.
Back home to a requested meal by Ruby....sausages with mashed potatoes, vegetables and lots of gravy then another evening of film watching....Pete's Dragon and Zootropolis.....and popcorn but not for me....I think it's like eating cardboard...yuck.

Sunday lunch at the pub with DDIL and Marlowe and then that was our weekend over and done with.
Can't wait until the next one now.

Today I am catching up on jobs as everything stops when Ruby is in the house....so laundry, tidying and a bit of cooking.
I seem to have rather a lot of potatoes so I think I'll make a large cheese and potato pie. We'll have some for tea tonight and then Andy can have some for lunch tomorrow.  I'll portion some up for the freezer for DD's pack ups and that will be that problem sorted out.
I won't do any sewing today as I am not really in the mood even though I am eager to finish the Coin Quilt with Pizzazz now that I have the black fabric to do it.

Oooops....nearly forgot that I have sprayed the top oven ready for cleaning so I had best go and wipe that out before I try to cook anything in it.

Hope you are all having a good day.
We've had a tiny bit of snow this morning but other than that it's a fairly nice day.

Triangle Trauma At Tea Towel Mansion!!!

OK......I give in and have to admit defeat.....triangles and me just don't get on at all.
One cushion cover made and put straight in the scrap box to be chopped up for a string quilt at some point in the future.
Nothing I did would make those triangles meet nicely in the middle and by the time I had finished unpicking and redoing it looked like a right pigs ear.
I'll make two more cathedral window ones instead....at least I know I can do those.

No sewing today. When Andy gets back from town I shall be off upstairs to do some cleaning and get the bedroom and bathroom cleaned ready for Ruby coming later.
I can't go up until he gets back as Smudge needs to have someone on constant door duty. His Cushings medication seems to have done the trick with regards him having accidents in the house....apart from the odd one....but he now wants to go out much more frequently.

I am so ready for a weekend of fun and cuddles with Ruby and I know that she was really excited to be coming for a good old spoiling session.
Tonight she is off out for tea with Aunty DD and then back home for snuggling in jim jams and film watching.
Tomorrow will be birthday shopping in Derby....with maybe a bit of fabric shopping for Ganma with more snuggling and film watching in the evening....and then Sunday we are meeting DDIL and Marlowe at the pub for lunch and to hand Ruby back over.

I think I'll sneak in a coffee while I am waiting for Andy.

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend.

Blowing A Hooly!!!

It's very windy here again. No damage sustained as far as I can see although DD's small tool shed has finally gone to tool shed heaven. It's been blown down so often and it can't be mended this time.

I've been busy in the kitchen this morning making up a large batch of veg hash for the freezer. One portion has been used as a base for some spicy pork and beans which is our meal today over some jacket potatoes. There will be leftovers for the freezer.
I freeze individual portions in takeaway containers and DD is loving taking something hot for her lunch....or she is when her Momma remembers to take it out to defrost which I forgot to do with her spaghetti bolognaise last night. Hopefully she took a can of soup with her and still got her hot meal.

Last night I made another of the cathedral window blocks. It still turned out with the squares not quite where I wanted them but never mind....I think only I will know that.
Today I am going to be making two lots of Five Minute Blocks and that will be four cushion covers made to replace my rather tatty looking ones that are currently on the sofa.
I don't know what I will do with the squares left as they are colours I really don't like.....yellows and browns...yuck.

On with the sewing then.

Have a good day.
