Girly Card!!!

Hooooo it's gone cold tonight. My feet are freezing........and I love it. The wind is howling down the chimney......which I don't like so much as the noise scares me but at least I know it's getting nearer to snuggly time......my favourite time of the year.
Snuggled up with DD to watch a silly Rom/Com she got on DVD today called Made Of Honour..........Patrick Dempsey in a mini kilt.....I'll never be the same again....lol!!!

The card I am sharing today is Deb's birthday card. I made this with a stamp by Stamps Happen. Although I am not much of a 'girl' I do love sophisticated fashion images like this.
I coloured with pencils and Gamsol and added a bit of bling to both the image and the flowers using stick on gems.
The greeting is from a Kars clear set of birthday words.

Off to warm my tootsies now.
Night night.

Back To Blogging Cards!!!

Had to make a couple of cards today for birthdays tomorrow.
This card is for my hubby. I know he will love this as his favourite music is Rock'n'Roll and he likes jukeboxes and what he calls 'proper records'.......lol!!!
The jukebox and record corner are PC Crafter from The Soda Shop creatable by Laurie Furnell.
The Vintage 1954 has been made on the computer and the the stars are Sizzix and Quickutz.
Paper is by The English Paper Company.
I have another card done for Deb's birthday but as she reads my blog I won't post that until tomorrow. Hubby doesn't even know what a blog is so he won't be reading this....lol!!!

Right I am off for a bath and then DD and I are going to carry on watching Grey's Anatomy. We have started again at Season 1 and watch a few episodes a night just to make me take some time off to relax.

Bye for now.

Cuttlebug Embossing And Alcohol Inks!!!

I am sooooo in love with this new holly embossing folder. I only bought it today so was dying to try it out when I got home and as I have an Alcohol Inks class in the morning I thought I would combine work with play and design a new card just for my ladies..........Hi Shar.....and Ingrid:)
I wanted to use this lovely cardstock which is corrugated on one side and cream speckled on the other and I think it works really well with the embossed panel.
The embossed panel is some strange self adhesive metallic sort of plastic and it takes the inks so beautifully.
First I embossed the panel in the folder then added a base coat of neat Stream and Meadow Alcohol Ink. The next coat was Bottle with Gold Additive.
Once dry I coloured the berries with a peeloff pen.
The rest was just matting and layering and adding the ribbon..........please be mightily impressed with the bow..........that was my first attempt and I nearly had to pick myself up off the floor I was so shocked that it turned out. I am not a very good tier of bows usually.....lol!!!

I've made two cards tonight and you should see the mess I have made. Honestly I am such a messy worker..........best get tidied up so that I can find the things I need to take to work in the morning.

I have the Blog Candy now......just need to photograph it and I shall start the ball rolling on Friday for that.

Bye for now.

Bright And Shiny!!!

WOW........this is a bit of a bright card for me.
My new stamp in black StazOn on a Kaleidacolor brayered background. This pad was Calypso I think.
I used the leftover piece on the background and added brads for a bit of texture.

Went out shopping for Blog Candy today but didn't get everything I wanted so I'll pick up some bits tomorrow from work to go with what I already have.

I've had a lovely day with DD. She is on her rest week now and then a week of holiday next week. I wish I had the time and could afford another week off with her but never mind she is off at Christmas so we will have a whole week together then.

Off to pack my bag and sort out what I'm wearing tomorrow........this is getting a bit difficult now as I have lost some weight and a lot of my clothes are getting too big for me. I'm still no super model but I think I shall have to buy some new things soon.

Bye for now

New Stamp!!!

Just look at this gorgeous new stamp that the postie delivered this morning. DD ordered it for me as a surprise. Hasn't she got good taste.........takes after her mother....lol!!!
It's by a company I hadn't heard of before called Chapel Road Artstamps and it was ordered from http://www.thatscraftyonline.com/ it's called Large Weed Background.
I just had to have a quick stamp with it when she gave it to me so here I have stamped in blue Versafine onto a brayered background and have embossed with Ranger Polysparkle EP.
The card is a large square so that will give you some idea of how large the stamp is.
I have some really bright brayered backgrounds that I did when I was trying out the Kaleidacolor ink pads the other day so I think I may do some similar cards with those. The large Thanks stamp is by Stamp'n Stor.

Tomorrow I am off out to shop for some Blog Candy to give away to celebrate 60,000 hits so look out for the announcement for that later this week.

Hubby being the slave driver that he is has had me out in the garden again this afternoon. This time we were out tidying the front garden and lopping down some bushes that had got a bit out of hand. We have a lovely conifer type tree in the centre of the lawn and we have trimmed that into a nice shape ready for the Christmas lights later on in the year.............and talking of Christmas I think I had best go and get on with finishing off some cards I doing for the local shop. I'm doing some sets this year which I don't usually do so we'll see how they go.

Me Poor Old Bones!!!

At last we have had word from the man who is doing the work that our new garden steps will be getting done on Friday........yay!!!
So I have spent the best part of the weekend out in the garden with hubby tidying and sorting stuff out. After that I put my new bookcases up in my workroom and re-organised my stamps and some other bits.
My poor old bones feel like they have been crushed by a carthorse.......lol!!!
I don't think I will be doing any stamping tonight as my hands ache something chronic after carting paving slabs, roofing tiles, fence panels and various other heavy stuff down to the new shed area.........only a few metres away but it felt like miles after the tenth slab....lol!!!
Anyway I am off for a nice bath in some Radox and hopefully the aches and pains will be gone by morning.

Brayering With Kaliedacolour Ink Pads!!!

I've had a couple of emails from readers asking about brayering with Kaliedacolour ink pads. One lady had had her ink disappear altogether from her gloss card after drying. The best I could do was to try them myself as I have three which I rarely use......I always reach for my Adirondacks when brayering.

So I brayered three ATC size pieces of card using a Speedball brayer and stamped them using a Paper Artsy image then added some white outlining to a couple of them.
They have now been done for about an hour and the colour is still there so Paula I am wondering if it could be the paper/card you are using. Are you using photographic paper? My personal preference is the card you use for Encaustic Art which can be bought in A6, A5 AND A4 packs of 100 sheets and is double sided which is fab if your first effort goes wrong. If you Google Encaustic Art supplies you should be able to find some online. I get mine through the shop where I work.

Hope this is of use ladies.

Right I am off for a browse around Blogland before I go and have a soak in the bath. I expect hubby will want to watch a film tonight seeing as how he doesn't have to go to work tomorrow. Wonder what I shall have to sit through tonight.......lol!!!

I Am Soooooooo Bad!!!

Sorry I have been such a bad blogger over the last few days.
Grey's Anatomy arrived on Tuesday morning and I started watching it as soon as I got in from work. Watched 14 episodes.....yes 14.......through until 5am Wednesday morning then finished it Wednesday evening. I loved it but it wasn't quite as good as Season 3 in my humble opinion......not as gritty or exciting.
When I got in last night I started with the Mother of all migraines.....probably due to watching too much tv.......lol!!! Ended up sleeping through until 8:30 this morning.
Feeling fab now so I am off up to my workroom and will have some cards to post by this evening.
See you later

Jewel Poinsettia!!!

Phew it's been warm today hasn't it?
Hubby lit the fire tonight as he thought the central heating could do with a run through and I am sat here feeling like a well done roast......lol!!!

Today's card is a slightly more traditional version of yesterday's card.
The poinsettia has been stamped and embossed in gold onto a piece of metallic card which has been coloured with Alcohol Inks in Stream, Lettuce and Butterscotch. The colour was then knocked back a little with a bit of Stazon grunging in Olive Green.

The second stamping was onto a piece of card which had been dipped and dragged in a mixture of various Adirondack inks which had been applied to a plastic mat and spritzed with water. For the last dip I sprayed the mat with a Moonglow spritz. The result was this gorgeous deep red with a metallic sheen.

For the background layers I used a lovely mottled gold card and scored a pattern on it using my Scor Pal. On the larger layer I scored a channel a quarter of an inch from the edge and filled it in with burgundy gel pen.
The outside edge of this layer has been given a hammered look using an embossing tool.

Work tomorrow. I do wish the weekends didn't go so quickly. Next weekend will be a bit longer as Deb is closing the shop because the annual Statutes Fair will be on and apparently there will be a Waltzer ride two feet from the shop window. For customers who read my blog I will double check on the days she is closing and post here about it tomorrow night..........I left my list upstairs....sorry.

I'm off for a soak.....my shoulders are aching something wicked after doing that hammered effect on the card.........lol!!!

White Poinsettia!!!

In between the housewifey jobs and other sundry distractions today I have been able to get in a bit of stamping and here is the card I made.
I have to admit to being a little bit pleased with this one as it turned out totally differently to the idea I had when I started and the background was made by accident.

So I started off by stamping the poinsettia onto black card and embossing it in white after which I decided to swipe around the edges with some white ink on a sponge with the intention of adding crystal glitter for a frosty look. However.....I was a bit heavy handed with the ink and ended up applying it to the whole piece of card to spread it out. It looked nice but then I spied my Peacock Brilliance ink pad and started to add a little colour, then a bit more and a bit more until I ended up with the pearly teal colour....which I loved.
I did have a bit of trouble getting a smooth finish on the smaller piece as my card was quite porous and just grabbed the ink in patches so here is a little tip for you.......before I started to apply ink to the larger piece I just dabbed over it with my Versamark ink pad and that helped the inks to blend beautifully.
Once the ink had been dried I stamped the text using Versafine and embossed with clear powder.
The poinsettia was stamped and embossed onto vellum twice and then cut out and layered with black brads.

Well Patrick didn't turn up this morning.......I feel proper stood up I do.......and as DD won't let me watch it without her and she is on nights next week......that means it will be over a week before I get even a sniff of the new series..........I feel a slight tantrum coming on........lol!!!
Mind you if hubby keeps on I may not be here in a week.....I may strangle him.
He has just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and in the week he did a supermarket visit with a nurse as part of his education on how to eat healthily to help his condition. So now he keeps banging on about how many sugar cubes there are in everything and it's driving me mad.......lol!!! Bless him.

In the hope of avoiding King Kong on tv........I am off for a soak in the bath and then DD and I are going to finish watching Grey's Anatomy Season 1 which we started on Friday........got to have my fix......lol!!!

Hope the rain isn't spoiling your weekend.

De-stressing With Distress Inks!!!

I've had an absolute pig of a week so I have spent this morning de-stressing myself with my distress inks and I have so enjoyed it.
The card above is the result of my efforts.
Main stamped image is by Stampington and this has been stamped over a distress ink background which I spritzed with water and then dabbed with a tissue to lighten some areas of colour.
Over the top I stamped a very fancy border from a set of Melissa Frances clear stamps. It is very detailed so I used black Versafine and then embossed in gold.
The background paper has been stamped with a text stamp..also using distress inks in pink and red.
The fancy border was then stamped in Pearlescent Poppy Brilliance ink and embossed with clear EP.
I decided that a greeting on it would make it over fussy so I've left that off.
I hope you like it.

DD and I are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Grey's Anatomy Season Four. It's been dispatched so hopefully it will arrive tomorrow in time for a gloriously lazy weekend. If not I shall be stamping and cardmaking all weekend..which is no hardship but I would much prefer to be drooling over Patrick Dempsey.....lol!!!

If you wish to leave a comment on any of my work you will find that I have now taken off the word verification and gone to comment moderation. Hope you find this more convenient.

Well I have rashly offered to cook tea tonight so I had best go and start.

Bye for now.

Vintage Christmas!!!

If there was only me to please.......I would make cards like this all the time. I just love vintage images.
Here I have taken inspiration from the very subtle colouring in the image and used Basic Grey Figgy Pudding papers. I overstamped the paper on the circle with my favourite Christmas script stamp from Rubber Stampede and the 25 Dec stamp is from a TandaStamps set.
The base paper has been screwed up and inked lightly using a Versamagic ink in a soft blue. This has been attached to the card blank and then overlaid with a piece of foiled vellum then I stitched through all the layers.
I wanted to make the image a little more dimensional so added the ribbon where the little angels have a fabric wrap and then decorated that with crystals.
Found the perfect colours of Prima flowers in my stash so added those along with more crystals.
Hope you like it.
