Baby......It's Mad Out There!!!

I'm done and unless we are on the verge of starving....I will not be going out again until way after Christmas. No Boxing Day sales for me. I will be staying at home out of the way.
We were in town before 9am and already T***o had run out of cucumbers, they had hardly any fresh tomatoes and none of the coleslaw we like. Home Bargains had absolutely no loo roll. How does a shop run out of loo roll for goodness sake?

Anyway....we were back home by 10am and now the ham is on and cooking ready for our traditional Christmas Eve meal of ham, salad and chips.
Most of tomorrow will be taken up with food prep and cleaning ready for The Doodles arriving on Christmas Day.
Bring it on......I am ready.

Hope you are all having a good time getting your last minute things done.

  1. You can have a bit of a rest now Sheila. I got our last few things this morning and thankfully the supermarket was just regular busy and not crazy. That's me done now. I've just been baking cookies with Lily so we will need to ice them once they've cooled, I'll make more mince pie slice tomorrow.
I hope you have enough loo roll to see you through. 😉 X

  3. Although I love Christmas, I always breathe a sigh of relief when the shops finally close on Christmas Eve!! Tomorrow, like most women, I shall be tidying and prepping - much better than trawling round the shops. Merry Christmas!

  4. No sales for me either. I have filled the freezer and the store cupboard so won't need to go to town for some while. The ham, salad and chips sound delicious. We have opted for steak, baked potato and salad this year, we usually have a large buffet.

    1. We've been having the ham, salad and chips for our Christmas Eve tea for over twenty years....even when we have had guests. It always goes down very well.
Hope you have a magical Christmas.

  5. The question is why do people think they need more loo roll than they usually do lol. I wonder how many cucumbers and tomatoes and other stuff will be thrown away in the New Year by people who always buy food because it's what they always do.

Wishing you and all your family a very Happy Christmas - enjoy your lunch with your son and his family. xx

    1. I know....quite mad isn't it....lol.

There will be nothing thrown away in this house. The Doodles will probably take some leftovers home for their Boxing Day lunch and I have replaced our previous Boxing Day roast with a relaxing day of eating leftovers too.

      Have a wonderful Christmas Suzanne.

  6. Me too, I’m in for the duration now, what we don’t have we don’t have (I think I’ve remembered everything). We have gammon, mash and bits for our traditional eve tea. Can’t wait for Christmas afternoon to see our grand baby, have a wonderful Christmas xx

  7. I had to shop today due to the unexpected homecoming of Col and realising that his brother who is now diabetic was coming on Boxing day! I came out with one bag of shopping and felt glad I wasn't paying for some of the HUGE trolleys full of food going through the tills

  8. It wasn't too bad when we were out today. We were at the shops at 8am and back him by nine. I'm done now. If I don't have it were going without. Happy Christmas to you and your family, Sheila. I hope your all have a wonderful day. It looks like it's going to be a white Christmas here. We have a snowstorm coming.

  9. I wouldn't even consider fighting through the shops this close to Christmas. I made that mistake many years ago and found that the shelves were practicaly picked clean. It was bizarre to see so little of anything left in a supermarket. Today we are just relaxing and if anyone pops in then I am well stocked with mince pies. The goose is defrosting for tomorrow's dinner and I have Chrismas pud, mince pies, chocolate log and festive bakewell tarts. If anyone has room for dessert then they can help themselves. Happy Christmas to you and yours. Have a wonderful day tomorrow. x
