NEC Shopping Haul!!!

It was without doubt one of the best shows I have ever been to at the NEC and I will definitiely be going again.
We met some wonderful people and saw some beautiful things.
I pretty much stuck to the list I had made and actually came home with money to spare so that can't be bad.
Now I'll let the pictures of my goodies do the talking.....

Rotating cutting mat with free blades and a stock up on the Shmetz needles I love which saved me £14.

Shape cut rulers for use with a rotary cutter.

I have been after this pattern for myself for ages and will be sourcing some fabulous fabric soon to make it.
Glorious kits from Worn and Washed Fabrics to make quilts that look just like they have been passed down from Grandma.
A lovely jelly roll with Marlowe's name on it. The green looks a bit washed out here. It's a lovely soft lime in real life.
This Layer Cake is so gorgeous it doesn't really need any words.
Couldn't pass these fat quarters up at £1.80 each and one day soon they will be turned in baskets.
Christmas cushion stash.
A bit of blender stash.
A bit more blender stash from an offcuts bin for 50p each.
This will one day be a bag with a slashed decorative panel on the front.
.....and this will one day be a purse for DD.

My feet, legs and back are destroyed and today I am hobbling around like a little old lady. Goodness knows what I would have been like if we had stayed all day. As it was....the first couple of hours were lovely. After that it was just shuffling along and I don't do shuffling so we went and found the stall where I had seen big cutting mats at a reasonable price, purchased one and then we decided it was time to go.
By 2pm I was being treated to a late lunch at Harvester fairly near to home.

Thank you so much DD for my wonderful early 60th birthday treat......it was amazing.

    1. It was amazing Jackie. So much stunning stuff to see....as in samples that people had created. One stall nearly made me weep...all American folk style quilts and the work in them was breathtaking.
I will definitely try to go to the quilting show in August-x-

    1. The quilt kits were a bit of an indulgence Sharon but if you could have seen the samples...oh my word.....just the faded heirloom kind of look I have been wanting for a long time.

  8. So glad you enjoyed it - it was brilliant and like you I've come home with enough fabric for a double quilt, cushion covers, and a project bag, some templates, cottons, blades and Frixion pens - we've both got lots of projects to have a go at for the next few months xx
P.S. I'll be walking just like you tomorrow xx

  9. Glad you both had a wonderful day. You did well to buy all those goodies and still have money left over and I'm impressed you've got something planned for everything you bought. Know what you mean about shuffling around places, it's not much fun at all. xx

    1. It really was wonderful Suzanne. I have been to many shows at the NEC and this was the friendliest and calmest one I have ever been to.

  10. Oh my word Shelia, what a lot of gorgeousness in one post! The quilt bundle - gorgeous, the LC - gorgeous, the JR - gorgeous! I'm fascinated with those shape cut rulers - no idea how you use them or what they create - I think you should show us!! I have a Janet Clare pattern ( off C&C ) for one of those aprons. I'm going to make two - one a practice one for dirty jobs and one a real one for best!!!!! I think I'm going to get tickets for the NEC next year .... or I might find out about the quilting show too.....

    1. Oh I know Rachel I love it all very much.
I'm going to have to put it away today as I can't stop looking at it and stroking it and I have a quilt to be getting on with.
I'm hoping for great things from the rulers which are slotted to take a rotary cutter....so you line the ruler up at one end of the fabric and cut through the zero slot to neaten the end and then just cut whatever width of strips through the appropriate slot....it rises in half inch increments. I was hoping to find the 12 inch square one but talking to the lady I bought these from the 12 inch breaks easily. When I use it I will try and Roz to take some photos and post them on here.
Can't wait to make the apron/top....it's going to be fab for in the house if we get any hot weather.
Definitely go to one of the shows that has a sewing exhibition.....it really was awesome.
      Hugs-x-

    2. Rachel and Sheila
If you can, try to get tickets for the festival of quilts in August - yesterday was brilliant but you've got card and cake stalls there as well as sewing stalls - if you're into sewing then go for the festival of quilts.
It is about 5 times bigger than yesterday's sewing part and it is all just for sewing plus there are some fantastic quilts in the exhibition.
The November show is very much Christmas and sparkly and for sewing it is probably about the same size as yesterday
Can I ask have either of you been to the quilt show at Malvern? I've heard that it's a good one too
Don't know about you Sheila but I've spent today missing looking forward to go to the show - does that make sense?
      Lol xxx

    3. I've been looking at the quilt show just this afternoon Trudie. Just need to see if Roz is off that weekend and we'll decide if we are going.
Not been to Malvern but would like to now that I am really getting into quilting.
I've missed looking forward to going too and would have loved to have gone back today to pick up things I didn't but wish I had...lol-x-
