Just after nine in the morning and it is already 27C here so being the kitchen boss I have made the decision that there will be no hot meals this week unless it cools down drastically. It's salad all the way which makes DD and I happy.....Andy.....not so much but never mind it will do him good.
I am expecting the laundry to bake on the line rather than blow in the breeze as we don't have even a whisper of one. It's just very still and very hot.
So glad I ran the hoover round yesterday after lunch as that means I won't have to do it today.
Just a little tidying in the dining room and I can pretty much do as I please for the rest of the day......something gentle and not too far away from the fan would be good....lol.
Keep cool and enjoy your day.

Send a little sun our way, the weather is forecasting 14 with showers so no guarantee I'll even get the washing dry.
ReplyDeleteI would very gladly swap your 14 with showers for what is now 28 and rising.
DeleteHelp me.......I am melting....lol-x-
I'm wilting already....Made a load of dog food this morning, resulting in a house full of flies - perils of living on farmland and having all the windows open! OH is going to do a stir fry tonight, thank goodness. Enjoy the rest of your day in front of the fan, Sheila.
ReplyDeleteI hate, hate, hate the flies.
DeleteWe too are surrounded by farmland.
I have had to agree to pork pie for Andy's salad but I shall have ham and pineapple I think.
Have a lovely day-x-
Snap salads all the way here, we had bread, cheese and salad the weekend xx
ReplyDeleteI do love a good salad Marlene. I am going to try your egg and bacon salad one night this week and make some mustard mayonnaise to go with it.
DeleteHave a lovely day-x-
It's good to take things easy when it's so hot. Salad doesn't go down very well here so it's simple meals for us. The paddling pool will be out this afternoon. X
ReplyDeleteWe could do with a new paddling pool for the Rubester. I think I might see if I can pick one up tonight when I nip into town and then tomorrow I can fill it up on the pretext of testing it out and soak me toesies. Good plan-x-
DeleteSalad for lunch and dinner in this kitchen today, Sheila. Trying to vary what goes in it and today will be clearance of the fridge so it will be interesting to say the least! Catriona
ReplyDeleteI do love a good old fridge bottom salad Catriona.....well as long as there is nothing too far past being useful...lol-x-
DeleteYum, love salad with tuna. I will also use my crock pot during our hot summer and cook outside. The crock pot doesn't throw out near the heat of the oven.
ReplyDeleteWhen is your heat wave supposed to break?
Oh yes definitely tuna with salad Sandy.
ReplyDeleteToday I will probably have sliced cold ham and chicken but I do have plenty of tuna in so I could make my Hawaiin Tuna Salad which would go down very well.
Weather is supposed to get a little cooler after Wednesday I think. I hope so as I will be glad to get rid of this headache.
Hugs-x-
It's been so hot and humid here these last couple of days as well. It's started to rain since I began catching up on some of your posts so hopefully it will cool things off a bit. I desperately need to vacuum (or hoover as you say!! lol)!! My chocolate lab has been shedding so much. Yuck!! Stay cool my wonderful friend!! xoxo

Today has been very humid....gosh I feel like I am melting.
DeleteI could do with a good old fashioned shower of summer rain but I expect when it does come it will be a deluge with thunder storms and batter the rest of my poor flowers-x-
It's been a scorcher here today Sheila, absolutely stifling. I think salad for the rest of the week is the way to go, I may well just follow suit. It's always a freezer tea for us on Monday so not exactly cooking, but the oven still needed to go on. Don't think I'll be repeating that tomorrow. xx
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed our salad tonight Suzanne. Same again tomorrow but with fish and a few different bits mixed into the salad left over from tonight....yummy.

Hi Sheila
ReplyDeleteDefinitely avoiding cooking as much as possible here. The OH is on a diet so is grumpy with whatever I put on the table. He eats like a bird for breakfast and lunch but says he looks forward to a substantial dinner.Fair enough but I don't intend to stand in the kitchen where the sun sits late afternoon with the cooker roaring too.
Have also stuck to my guns about no Sunday roasts while it's summer:)
xx
They do get grumpy about their food these men don't they?
DeleteWhen it's this hot food is the last thing on my mind.
The kitchen was like a furnace last Sunday when DD was cooking so no more roasts here either-x-
