A Lovely Weekend!!!

Well....that was a very lovely weekend.
Marlowe's birthday party went well and she enjoyed it so much....as much for the space to run around in as the birthday cake and balloons.
The tiny ones of Marlowe's age and younger were so well behaved but there were a few older siblings there too whose only purpose seemed to be to see who could scream the loudest. My poor head was banging by the time it was finished.
After that we just had a nice quiet weekend which suits the three of us at the moment. A nice roast for lunch on Sunday and an evening spent watching a film and that sets the workers up for another week.

Monday is here and I am so glad to have the house back to myself. I have been into town with Andy this morning to pick up some salad for tea for DD and myself. There is a lamb casserole simmering on the stove for tomorrow and I am just about to get into job mode and catch up on a few things.

Tomorrow will be a bit of a Red Letter day.....Tea Towel Mansion will finally be mortgage free. What a relief to have that paid off after all these years. It's a wonderful feeling.

Hope you have all had a fabulous weekend and that you have an equally fabulous week.

  1. Congratulations Shelia, that is a wonderful feeling. From now on you will have extra money to do other things than paying that mortgage every month. We are both in our 70’s and have been mortgage free for a long time. Our pension goes a long way without rent to pay every month. All your efforts have paid off, well done 💕 xx

  2. How fantastic Sheila, that's going to give you so much extra money each month, to do with as you please. Must be lovely to feel free and unencumbered. We really shot ourselves in the foot when we didn't buy another house after selling our last one, now we're stuck with paying rent ad infinitum. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!

  3. Welcome to the mortgage-free club - it's a great place to be!
Glad the party went well. I'd have run away at the first scream, you can tell I'm not a natural mother! xxx

  4. Welcome to be mortgage free club it's a lovely feeling. Although it happened to me because my husband died at 52 and he had taken a policy out in case something had happened to him, I no know I would rather have had the mortgage. I still miss him after 32 years.
I am glad Marlowe had a lovely birthday.

  5. Sounds like a great weekend! Congrats on the mortgage being paid off. I can't wait for that day! We still have a while lol, but should at least be by the time husband retires.

    1. Andy is retiring in September. A decision he came to knowing that we would be paid up. It's a year earlier than he should retire as they moved the goal posts and he should be working until he is sixty six.

  6. Glad Marlowe’s birthday was fun for her but I would have left quickly due to the others! Been mortgage free for 14 years now but it was a struggle at times when the rate jumped to 15% twice during our 25 year payments. We are doing some reshuffling in the house to give me a better craft space so the entire place is in turmoil and my back is screaming for respite.

    1. Yes....I am not a huge fan of screaming either.
How lovely to have a better craft space but you watch that back.

  9. It will be a lovely feeling for you to be mortgage free, cutting the ties after umpteen years of commitment. We did the great deed a while ago. So liberating!

It is noisy and bedlam with younger childrens parties, but for us grandparents it only lasts for a few hours and it's lovely to see them enjoying themselves and having fun. Our youngest grand-daughter is two years in a few weeks, but I don't think she'll be having the same kind of party as her older sister has at the moment. A bit quieter I think.

  10. I am thrilled for you getting rid of the mortgage. I know how it felt when we moved and were able to buy this little cottage cash a big weight of the shoulders. Glad the party went well, Honeys was a great success too.
