It's A Grey Old Day!!!

I wish the weather would do something other than sit there looking blah. I'd love a bit of snow just for a change from everywhere looking brown and muddy. Just a couple of days would do 😁

It's rather chilly this morning so the heating is on and I am back in the kitchen tackling the cupboards where we keep the foodstuff.....taking everything out, cleaning the cupboards and checking for out of date things as I put them back. There shouldn't be anything to throw away as I am usually quite careful to use things up but you never know.

I didn't do a meal plan for this week so today I'll have a ferret in the freezer and pull out something quick for tonight and then sit and make my plan for the rest of the week before I nip out for top up shopping later.

.....and that is about as exciting as it gets at Tea Towel Mansion for today....lol. There may be time for some stitchy stuff later for an hour or so if I'm lucky.

What are you up to today?

  1. I think I may tackle our food cupboard this afternoon. Just to make sure I haven't got anything hidden at the back that I've forgotten about. I've been good with meal planning lately, so I hope I can keep it going.
    Have a good day. X

    1. Two cupboards down and two to go and just a couple of jars of herbs and spices a tad past their sell by date so not bad.

  2. I should probably do a freezer clean out soon. Weekends usually pack so much running around, cleaning, laundry... that I don't get to those kinds of jobs. -Jenn

    1. It had to be done Jenn. Too many little bags and pots of leftovers taking up too much space. They have now been organised for using up.

  3. I'm ok with blah. As dull as it is, I can stand it in JAn & Feb because I HATE snow! I am reluctant to wish time away (heaven's it goes by sooo quickly) but least we are approaching spring even if we have a way to go yet. LOL, I just did a freezer ferret and now know what we're having for the next three nights.

    1. It's just the constant greyness and general muddiness that gets me down.
Looks like everyone is freezer ferreting....lol.

  4. I am over this blah weather too Sheila, a little snow would make it a little interesting but then comes the difficulty associated with snow...driving. After consideration I am happy to stick to the blah.

    1. Gosh yes....I should imagine it would be a little more than interesting given where you are.
Hope you are staying snug and safe.

  5. DD's birthday meal sounded lovely especially the extra touches with the balloons, cake and photo.

I'd love a bit of snow as well but only because I don't really have to go out in it. Not much chance I don't think. It's blowing a gale here and pouring down. xx

    1. It was really good Suzanne.

Same here....I would just have to look at the snow.
Horribly grey and wet here but we don't have the wind today.

  6. I often read but don't think I've commented before. I had quite a giggle as I happened to notice a phrase in your post before reading the paragraph properly. Hope the 'ferret in the freezer' was tasty!! Vicki

    1. Hiya Vicki.
Oh I am so glad I made you giggle. We can all do with a good laugh now and again.
The ferret turned out to be some cheese and onion pasties and yes they were very tasty.

  7. A larder stocktake is on my to do list for this week. I might just crank up some music on Spotify and do it later on today, as it’s so dismal outside. My freezer ferreting can wait, as it’s a chest freezer out in the garage! xx

    1. I don't have a larder as such just a good large sturdy bookcase in one of the brick sheds where I keep tinned goods and household products. I call it the apocalypse stores and that was sorted before Christmas so should be good for a while.
      Enjoy your music.

  8. Grey days are getting me down! I really need some sunshine. There isn't much forecast here so I'm hoping for some when I visit daughter next week. Even though it's a lot colder where she is (way below freezing) she does get sunshine which I think really helps! I'm trying to get through my freezer but feeling a little uninspired on the meal making front. I'm hoping a break cooking next week will do me good lol

    1. I hope you get the sunshine you need when you visit your daughter. I'd settle for a nice bright frosty day if I can't have snow. This constant greyness is just too disgusting for words.
