Cursing The Blue!!!

Yesterday we managed to get the ceiling painted and once it was dry Andy put up the new light fittings and shades.
I made a start on painting the walls below the dado rail. I am trying to cover a strong blue with my new grey and it ain't going well. I think it's going to take three or four coats to cover it completely. Luckily there is only one long wall and two shorter ones.
I have been cursing.

I've been doing our own decorating now for over forty years and yesterday I really wished that I had as much energy as I did when I first started. Oh I ache so bad.

Today is a day off as I am cooking a roast dinner and then I have to do a bit of tidying ready for my Ruby arriving in the morning.

I went to see her in the musical Matilda on Friday evening and it was totally awesome. The kids had learned the whole thing in a week and I think the prompter only had to prompt once through it all.
Ruby just wanted to go back and do it all again.

Oooops......something sounds like it's boiling over so I will go and rescue whatever it is.

Have a lovely day.

  1. We buy cheap cream emulsion to use as an undercoat on strong colours. I once painted my ceilings a very pale blue... They looked like summer skies. Go and have a soak in a nice bubble bath. Ease those achey bones

  2. I know the feeling, I am aching too from painting. I am due at an aerobics class later this morning and have to admit I am not really feeling it. The musical sounds amazing, enjoy your time with Ruby.

    1. Oh crikey....I think if I had to go to an aerobics class I would curl up in a corner and scream.
Is it this week you have your family arriving? If so have a wonderful time.

  3. I was thinking the same thing as Cherie K; that you might have needed to do an undercoat (base coat) to help cover that strong blue. And I sure know the feeling of achey joints after painting, etc! A nice long soak with epsom salts would be wonderful!

    1. Yes Dawn I really should have done an undercoat and I have the paint so I don't know why I didn't.
I always have epsom salts on standby on achey days....there's nothing quite like it.

  4. I love the idea of decorating but hate the practicalities of it totally and utterly
