He Came, He Saw, He Serviced!!!

Finally.....the boiler is serviced.
The man who came to do it was really lovely so worth waiting for I think and he will be coming every year now to do it so that we don't have the same drama we have had this year.

My threads arrived and we have got rain at last so this weekend is turning out quite well.

Our trip to Derby yesterday was lovely.
We decided to have a walk over to the old market hall and it was a right old trip down memory lane.....a cold drink sitting outside the pub where Andy and I got engaged, past the old fish and chip shop which was frequently visited when I was a child....now sadly closed and abandoned......and joy of joys....the discovery that the Hook & Eye sewing shop was still open opposite the market hall.
The market hall itself looks like it is undergoing some refurbishment but is still open and we were able to have a look round so I was happy about that.
Back into the Eagle Centre Market where I found two gorgeous fabrics for dresses for Marlowe and then home for a nice cuppa.

As I said earlier....we have rain. No drama of thunder, lightning or hail stones just a good steady downpour to soak the gardens and cool the air. We are supposed to be back to high temperatures tomorrow but the rest from the heat has been amazing and notched up my energy levels a bit.

Still no roast dinner today though as I cooked a small gammon joint yesterday and we are having that with some salad and new potatoes.

I hope you are all having a lovely weekend.

  1. That must be a relief Sheila, and it sounds like you've enjoyed a lovely weekend so far.
It's pouring with rain here today, so we won't be getting out at all. For once I'm actually quite enjoying the short break from the hot weather. X

    1. A huge relief Jules as I know how important it is to have boilers serviced.
The weeknd is going well and we have lots of rain. It's been quite cool but the thermometer is starting to rise.

  2. I bet you felt like putting the flags out.. We had the same troubles as you buy now use a lovely local man to service our boiler. I give him a ring just before it needs doing and he fits us in when he can.

    1. All the ones that let us down were local plumbers. This one was booked through My Boiler Service online and the company that came was via Team Energy. One little hiccup but they did good in the end.

  3. Used to love going to the Market Hall. Are the stalls still there at the entrance from the Market Place selling crumpets, pikelets etc.

  4. I am thrilled for you that the boiler man turned up. Strong winds here but finally the rain has stopped and the sun is shining.

    1. Oh me too MM. I thought it would never get done.
Lovely morning here....cloudy with a stiff breeze while I was out shopping but things are heating up a lot now.

  5. Glad the boiler has been serviced. I have been sewing all day today ready for my voluntary classses starting in September. Loving the rain as it’s cooled the atmosphere down- I had to put socks on earlier sitting at the machine. Looking forward to seeing the fabric.

What classes have you got planned?
The rain was soooo good while it lasted but things are getting hot again now :(
You'll see the fabric as dresses....I got it cut up and ready to sew so I didn't have to stash it....lol.

  6. So you're all set for winter then! We need to entrap a boiler service person...one that answers his phone messages and means he's coming when he's agreed to do so...think I may be asking for too much! x
