A Quiet Day!!!

It's very quiet here today on our small estate. Very unusual as we can normally hear children playing, mowers mowing and drills drilling somewhere....but I am not complaining.

A lunch of roast beef has been cooked and thoroughly enjoyed and the joint was large enough to fill two trays with leftover sliced meat and gravy for a couple of future meals and they have gone into the freezer.
While I was cooking DD has been doing the laundry and has just one more load to do. That means I can get on with other jobs tomorrow and not have to keep checking to see if the machines need emptying so I am one grateful Momma.
Andy has washed the pots and is just putting them away for me and then DD and I will take over the kitchen as a hair salon so that she can dye my hair so that I look half decent when we go to the quilt show next Sunday.
Once we are done I expect we will start a new season of 24 as there is nothing on tv on a Sunday evening that we enjoy at the moment.
So all in all a nice peaceful and relaxing day today and then all hell will be let loose next week as I battle to catch up with the many things that haven't been done while Andy has been at home.
Looking forward to getting my house back for a couple of weeks before DD has some annual leave.

Hope you are having a lovely day.

  1. Respect.
I could never be a housewife!. Being grateful for someone washing pots for you!. Gulp. They are everyones pots. Or someone else doing laundry. Murder would happen here if everyone did not do their bit!. I appreciate is your choice and respect again to that.

  2. Enjoy your quiet day Sheila. I've spent the afternoon at yet another child's birthday party! I would rather have had someone to sort my hair out for me today. X

  5. Hi Sheila, mine has been a very busy day. I have rehashed the garden and it looks completely different now. Now I am exhausted and sitting down with a nice white wine and lemonade.

  8. It's wonderful to have someone take over your regular jobs occasionally, isn't it?? Lots of laundry done today so we won't be in the way of the painter who is coming this week to beautify our mudroom and downstairs bathroom. TV tonight was Midwives and Unforgotten. Except for borrowed movies from our local library, my screen viewing consists entirely of British programming. Your comedy, mystery, and detective series are far superior to those made here in the U.S. I can't stand to watch ours.

    1. It was really nice Sandi. It's a pity I wasn't in the mood for sewing as that would have been a nice way to spend my little mini holiday.
I can't wait to start our decorating in the living room.
Midwives has finished here for now. We have to wait for the Christmas special so I am missing that on a Sunday evening.
Isn't it funny....you live in the U.S and like our British programmes and I am in the UK and prefer.....with the odd exception...U.S programmes. I don't particularly watch much comedy but I love your cooking shows, dramas and house renovation programmes.
Hey...maybe we should swap houses...ha, ha, ha.
      Have a lovely day.

    2. That is interesting, Sheila, that you prefer our U.S. programming. We do have a lot of cooking and home renovation shows, but I don't watch them much. I just can't get into our "crime" shows. Perhaps I'm just in love with the British accents, the countryside, and the architecture.

  9. I’ve had an equally easyish day, roast pork and proper crackling here was made. Back to school today- I just saw there’s a quilt and stitching show not far from me next Saturday in Penrith for only £3 a ticket! I think I might just drag the HG along as I had my hair dyed last week and am therefore fit for human contact!!!

    1. Oooooh Andy loves a good bit of crackling. I'm not so keen but I do like roast pork.
I won't be dragging Andy along to the quilt show here. It would be like taking a petulant child. No he will fill my birthday card with cash and consider his duty done...lol.
Hope you get to go to your show up yonder.....and I shall want to see what you bought.
