The Oil Man Cometh!!!

So happy that the knock on the door this morning turned out to be the oil man delivering our much needed oil. It wasn't supposed to be here until next Tuesday and we were worried about the very cold weekend we're supposed to be getting this week.

Andy can't sleep so he is up and about which means I can get the hoovering done early and no big meal to cook as DD is out with friends tonight and Andy and I decided we'd have poached eggs on toast....yummy....I do love simple meals.

The plan for the new quilt has been drawn out and I just need to cut a few more pieces to go with the rescued ones so sewing is on the agenda for this afternoon/evening.

Hope you are all keeping warm and having a lovely day.

  3. We need some oil too but the price is over 50p a litre right now so husband is waiting for a more normal 43-45p price. Do you use Boiler Juice to get quotes? We are thinking of joining the village oil buying group which can give a discount.

    1. Yes we use Boiler Juice Trish. I think when we ordered it was 51.4p a litre and that is the most we have paid up to now. Unfortunately we couldn't wait this time so had to bite the bullet.
I might see if there is an oil buying group here.

  4. What a relief for you someone in our reading group was desperate for her oil delivery.. we have just read our gas meter and it wasn't too bad but I would rather be warm regardless of cost!

    1. I like to be warm too Chris.
We're not wasteful with it but that cold snap certainly hammered our supplies.

  5. Glad your oil delivery arrived. At least you'll be warm in the weather takes a turn for the worse which I'm hoping it doesn't. I've loved winter but I'm ready for spring and some warmer days now. xx

  6. I'm glad your oil man turned up. I breath a sigh of relief when our wood store is topped up. We have some multifuel nuggets as a stand by but I do like to see a full wood store. Hopefully Spring will arrive and we won't need to worry about heating formuch longer Is oil an expensive fuel to us? We have been looking at moving house but tend to avoid 'oil fired' ones.

    1. I think like everything Cherie that it's as expensive as you make it. We usually put the heating on for an hour in the morning and then it goes on at about 4pm so the house is warm for Roz when she comes home as she works outside all day.
Having lived for over twenty years with heating we could only use when the coal fire was lit it is a blessing to me to have constant hot water and heating at the press of a button.
