Surprise!!!

Yesterday we had wind, rain and a bit of sun and then at teatime you could've knocked me down with a feather when we got snow.
Big fat, fluffy flakes that actually settled until we couldn't see the lawn after half an hour. It kept stopping and starting but in the end didn't amount to an awful lot.
Looking at it this morning I think I could sweep it all up and fit it in me washing up bowl.
So.....I've seen it and now it can go away.

This morning we have had the plumber here to fit a new tap in the kitchen sink and we asked him about converting to oil. He gave us a ball park figure which was much less than we thought and suggested a combi boiler which would solve a couple of problems and also give me a pantry........the pantry swung it for me....lol and I am now firmly on the side of going with oil. The money is there to get it done so we just need to decide on the when.
So excited to think that by next winter we might not have to deal with the coal fire and it's mess.

We are having a use it up tea tonight. Andy will have what is left of the mince from yesterday and DD and I will use up the cold meats and salad.
Tomorrow I am going to let Andy take me shopping....I must be mad but I will chain him to the trolley so that he can't keep wandering off round the shop and filling my trolley with c**p. I will also avoid the medical aisle as he thinks it very funny to go to the opposite end to me and shout me to ask if I need any ExLax or other embarrassing products. Sadly he thinks he's a comedian...lol.

Having had a sort out of my fabric and finding some one metre lengths of pretty cotton I went online and ordered a couple of patterns to make simple button shoulder dresses and little trousers for Marlowe for the summer. Another couple of metres of fabric and an embroidery hoop also fell into my basket so I am now excitedly awaiting a parcel. I haven't had a parcel through the post for ages. Doesn't take much to please me...lol.

As always I have laundry to do today. I am not looking forward to the trek across the yard to the tumble dryer but that is preferable to going down to the washing line through the mud bath which is currently our lawn.
I think the kettle needs to go on for a coffee first though.

Hope you are all keeping warm and safe.

  1. Your OH sounds like mine....he's always putting stuff in the trolley without telling me. And he disappears for minutes at a time....easy enough to find him though, I just listen out for his voice - he's generally found someone to chat to!

  2. Our snow is lingering, I hope it isn't waiting for some more to join it. My dad used to sneak stuff into Mum's trolley until the day she popped it all into a basket and gave it to him at the checkout. He was not happy when he paid for it. Enjoy your parcel, and the sewing.

I am so pinching your Mum's idea...it might just cure him-x-

  3. I guess husbands are the same everywhere! I try not to take mine because I shop with a very specific list..when he goes, all sorts of nonsense appears in the basket...he tries to explain it away by stating "but I'm the cook!" yes but I'm the menu planner and there is no need for potato chips! Enjoy your upcoming package!

  4. The snow has been and gone here as well. Didn't even see it arrive as it fell last night when the blinds were shut. Poor show indeed! :(

Mark used to do his comedian routine in the pet food aisle. I'd be choosing something and he'd say really loudly, "don't get any this week Sue, I'm having it put down, I fancy a cat instead!" Without fail we always got a 'look'.

Even though they're nuisances they do come in handy for lifting the bags. xx

    1. Oh my word....that's one I haven't heard from Andy.....lol.
I'm still making him be careful after his op so he's not much use for lifting the bags at the minute-x-

  5. The snow has been and gone, which lasted all of 10 minutes. The worry now is the high tide when a tidal surge is anticipated. We have been advised to stay clear of any promenades and coastal walks. We will just stay in. Have a great weekend.

  6. I am laughing out loud here about all the husbands in the supermarket. My HG likes to ask me loudly if I need any more < choose from any embarrassing product off the shelves they sell these days ... > he also is a wanderer. Drives me mad he does, but he also drives me to the supermarket so Imcant complain too much.

    1. Same here Rach.
I don't drive so would have to either walk five miles or catch one of those rare things round here called buses.
I swear to God our pair were seperated at birth....lol-x-

  7. I love coal fires or open fires in theory but I'm quite glad I don't have the work of one! Hope it all works out for you! I'm going to watch what you sew with interest. x
