Note Cards In A Holder!!!

One of my favourite card and project makers is Laurie at Just Give Me Stamps and recently she posted a beautiful project of a note card holder which I fell in love with and needed to have a go at.
Here are the results............................ I have used a variety of Basic Grey papers for the backgrounds and a set of clear stamps by Penny Black for the images.
There are five cards and envelopes in the folder.

I was really pleased with how it turned out thanks to Laurie's excellent instructions.
If you pay a visit I would make sure you have tea and biscuits to hand as you will be there for a while.
Well I have had a lovely day today.
My cold is just about gone and I have spent all day up in my room apart from an hour or so this morning when I made a chocolate fudge cake for tea. You may be thinking whoa........bad thing for a diabetic to be making but I have been trying out a half sugar/half sweetener concoction and it's not too bad. Obviously I still have to watch how much of it I eat but at least I can try a tiny slice which is better than nothing.
Off to watch Dancing On Ice now.......my fave part of the week.
Thanks for dropping by.

Black, White and Red!!!

I was going to post this last night but was slightly wiped out by this flippin' cold and fell asleep.
It's on it's way out now though so with a bit of luck next week should see me pretty well nearly back to normal.......or as normal as can be for me.......lol!!!
Today I am posting a project I made last week. A box and matching cards made with Papermania papers and stamps.
I love how it turned out in the black and white with red accents.

It's proper misty and miserable here in Staffordshire today so I am making a lovely warming casserole for our evening meal and while that is simmering away I have been baking to fill up the cake tins for lunch boxes etc.
This afternoon I am hoping to escape upstairs and do some crafting.

Hope you have a nice day too.
Thanks for dropping by.

Fantastic News...and Cards!!!

I have had the all clear from the hospital. Both my heart and kidneys are fine and the fluid from around my lungs has cleared of it's own accord......so no nasty poking with needles.....thank goodness.
The doctor was still not sure why I had been so poorly. I would have liked to have known what caused it but there were no clues in any of the scans or xrays.
Just need to get rid of this horrible cold and then I shall be firing on all cylinders.....whoooopeeee!!! Onto the cards then.
These two cards were made with some freebies from a magazine. I think the images are just gorgeous as they have a coating on them that looks like clear embossing.
The papers are from the magazine too. I can't remember buying it so it must be one DD got for me. I very rarely buy papercraft magazines now except for Craft Stamper because I have a bit of a thing at the moment for homemaking publications.

I'm treating myself to a couple of hours browsing the net now so I'll say goodnight.
Thanks for your visit..........oooh and thank you so much for the handcream recommendations which I will be trying as soon as someone can get to the shops for me tomorrow.

Busy Week!!!

Well I don't seem to have had five minutes this week it's been such a busy week.
Had to change my workdays to fit in a hospital appointment later today and I really missed having Monday at home.
Tuesday I was at work all day and then straight out after to Derby to spend the evening with the very gorgeous Ruby Doodle. DS cooked me a fabulous tea and we had a lovely few hours just chatting and relaxing.
Yesterday I came down with a rotten cold. Normally I don't catch colds and it must be five years or more since I had one this bad.
There are projects waiting to be photographed which I am going to try and get done before I go to the hospital and I will hopefully post something tonight.
I am getting back into the swing of things slowly and hopefully if I get good news about my scans today it will lift away the last of the black cloud that has been hanging over me for a few weeks now and I can get back to normal.

Can anyone recommend a really good non greasy hand cream?
I don't know if it's the water tablets I am taking but my hands are so dry and sore at the moment and nothing I use is relieving them. It's making working with ribbons and suchlike very difficult so I would appreciate any recommendations. So far I have tried E45 cream, Sanctuary and Soap and Glory. My hands smell gorgeous but they are as rough as sandpaper.

Right I shall go and get a few jobs done before I get showered and changed.
Catch you later.

Owl's About This!!!

Sorry this pic is so bad. It's pretty gloomy up in my workroom at the moment and I'm having trouble taking photos.
This is just a little set I made using some Papermania stamps and Sizzix diecuts.
Both cards use the same flourish but I removed one of the arms on the one used on the birthday card to make it more like a branch.
The box is a little Origami box and the lid has been stamped with one of the images from the set.

I've had quite a productive day today for a change and can actually see most of the floor of my workroom now............it's been a long time ......lol!!! I have also made one and a half cards which in my present mojoless mood is not bad going.

I'll be at work the next three days. Usually Monday is my day off but I have a hospital appointment on Thursday so have swapped my day.
Tuesday evening I shall be spending with Ruby Doodle......can't wait.

Deb and I will be busy moving the shop around tomorrow if everything went to plan and she managed to get out to collect the new stands we are having. She may not have done because we had quite a bit of snow here last night.

Anyway.........I am off for a cuppa.

Thanks for dropping by.

A Rose!!!

Today's card is made from Sizzix die cuts.
The rose has been formed from an old flower die which I am not sure if they do anymore.
The vase is a die Deb managed to pick up in the sale at Christmas.
Stem and leaf are hand cut.

Oooooh I spent the afternoon with my Ruby Doodle yesterday and got to babysit her for an hour while her mummy and daddy went for a walk in the fresh air.
She was as good as gold. Mind you for such a tiny thing she makes some very loud and explosive noises in her nappy area. I couldn't stop laughing. Bless her.

Today I am up in my workroom where it's nice and cosy and I am making up ribbon and fibre bags for the shop to try and reduce my obscenely huge collection.

Tonight we are watching The Ugly Truth which we have had in since last Monday but not had a chance to sit and watch it. I'm looking forward to that.

Well thanks for dropping by today.

A Touch Of Spring!!!

Just a quick post tonight and just to shock you..........I have made a card........lol!!!
I was twiddling about with a set of flower stamps from Inkadinkado and some chalks and this is what I came up with.
Vase is Sizzix but it is trimmed down from it's original size to fit a square card.
Sentiment stamp is also Inkadinkado.
Glitter is Stickles Star Dust.
Scalloped edge is hand drawn and cut then punched with a Fiskars Plier Punch.

I don't know about you but I am ready for spring this year. Most unusual as I am a winter girl through and through.

My little Ruby Doodle is coming along nicely. Shan't see her now until sometime over the weekend as I have quite a bit to do. Hurry up the weekend........I am desperate for a cuddle.

Must get off to bed now as I am struggling to get up in the mornings just lately.
Thanks for dropping by.

Doing Granny Things!!!

Just got back from visiting our beautiful Ruby after a very early morning call from DS. Baby had been up all night and they were exhausted so Granny and Grandad went over to give them a little break to catch some sleep and have a bath. She was a little angel so Mummy and Daddy got their sleep and we got lots of cuddles and kisses..........bliss.
I am so glad that we are only half an hour away and that they did call instead of struggling.
So nothing done on the crafty front as yet today. There does seem to be something stirring in the crafty quarters of my brain now and I think it's since the doctor gave me an extra tablet to take for my blood pressure and I have started on medication for the diabetes. I feel better than I have for a long while and my BP is coming down very nicely.
Sunday lunch has been scrapped until tomorrow so I need to go and have a ferret in the freezer to see what we have instead.
Thanks for your visit.

Bye for now and thanks for dropping by to share in our joy.

What A Week!!!

Well.........I won't forget this week in a hurry that's for sure.
Monday I had blood tests at the doctors surgery then got a call this morning to go in for an urgent appointment and now all of a sudden I am diabetic. Oh my gawd I just can't believe it. Still it's not as bad as what I thought it might be so at least it's something I can cope with.
What I can't understand is why, with all of the blood tests I had in hospital and at the clinic, wasn't it picked up before?
So that makes me and hubby a matching pair then.

Other fabulous news today..........my grandchild is at this moment winging his or her way into the world and will hopefully appear before the night is out........12:01am would suit me as I said it would arrive on the 11th.

I did bring a couple of projects home from work to photograph but I am just so emotional today with one thing and another that I just can't hold the camera still to take a decent pic.

Anyway......I think I am going to treat myself to a soak in the bath and a read of my book to try and calm my jangled nerves. After that I shall be hugging the phone and waiting for news from the hospital.

Hopefully my blog will soon return to it's cheerful, crafty old self and I for one can't wait.

Thanks for dropping by.

Forgive Me!!!

I am so sorry that my blog isn't getting updated too often.
I'm going through a bit of a rough patch at the moment and am only just about managing to keep up with stuff for work.
Had my heart scan on Wednesday and I have to say that I am a little worried about that. My blood pressure is up and down like a yoyo although I am happy to report that my headaches seem to have calmed down now.
Baby Bean hasn't arrived yet.........due date is Tuesday 9th.
Still just pottering in my room and sorting out all the stash I want to get rid of........it's a big job.

Thanks to everyone who keeps dropping by.....hopefully I will be back to normal.......or as near as........soon.

More Vintage Fashion!!!

A couple more cards made with vintage fashion images from Cora (Paper Flowers).
The background tartan is some more Kanban from the stuff to use up pile and the file tabs are from an AccuCut die.
All wording is peeloff greetings and lettering. 2010 is going to be the year I finally use up all that's left of my peeloffs........fingers crossed.

Bit of a scary week this week. I have to go for a heart scan on Wednesday which I am not looking forward to at all. Still if it only serves to rule out something on the list of what could be wrong with me it will be worth it. Luckily DD is off work and will be able to take me.

I'm beginning to wish that I had gone to the hospital with my finger. It still hurts like the divil and has a most peculiar bend in it......my own fault......I couldn't stand the strapping on it.

Wanted to stay upstairs and get a load of cards made tonight but it was either too cold or too warm if I put the heater on. Couldn't get a happy medium so I came down and made a huge pot of mushroom soup for tomorrow nights tea and while that is simmering away I am going to watch last night's episode of Larkrise To Candleford.

Thanks for stopping by.
