An Apology.

Hi
This is Sheila's DD.
I am just posting to say that Mum hasn't been well since she got in from work and I have made her take a night off from her cardmaking and have a rest. Nothing serious she just has a problem with her ears at the moment which is affecting her balance and making her feel nauseous. She has started treatment which should soon sort it out.
I haven't a clue how to do this raffle so could you bear with her and she will do the draw for the Celtic stamps tomorrow.
Thank you
R. Oliver

Daring Carmakers-Plastic Fantastic!!!

I did curse when I saw the dare for this week over at Daring Cardmakers. All of the stuff I could have used had been collected about half an hour before the dare was posted. So all that was in the bag we keep in the kitchen was a small plastic bag from some embellishments I had opened last night.
It's taken me all day to figure out what to do with it and this is what I ended up with.
Ages ago I saw a technique somewhere where you use hair gel inside a plastic bag and then add glitter and stuff........no hair gel so I used some waterless hand cleaner that is like a gel. Added a mix of glitter, micro beads and tiny confetti stars and swooshed it about a bit.
The frame was stamped and chalked then embellished with silver stars and a couple of silver blocks made from mirror card bashed with a steak hammer......an idea picked up from a Suze Weinburg video on You Tube.
Black outlines are peeloffs and the star borders are done with a Fiskars plier punch.
Quite happy with the outcome as it is very different to some of my earlier ideas for this dare.
If you have never joined in with the dares you really should have a go.......it is such fun and really makes you think.
Thanks for looking.

Tanda Teaser-Toybox Treasures!!!

Well Wendy very nearly had me stumped with the latest Tanda Teaser. I don't really do childrens cards so don't have any child related bits and pieces apart from new born stuff.........and you know how much I love doing baby cards.........not!!!
Then I thought......well it doesn't have to be for a very small child and the old cogs started making a funny grinding noise and off I went.
So this card is in the style of an old boxed game. I did the frame and the writing on the computer, cut it out, screwed it up, chalked it, then chalked it some more, spritzed it with walnut ink and then ironed it and stamped the medieval image which is by TandaStamps.
I added a thumb print as it is a boys' toy........we all know what mucky pups they are.....lol!!! Also added a fun touch with some banter written in a childs handwriting.
Took me all of 20 minutes to make once I had the idea.
Thanks for looking.

Daring Cardmakers Little Extra-Oh Sooo Juicy!!!

The Little Extra Dare at DCM this week is called Oh Sooo Juicy and we have to use lemon and orange on our designs.........the two colours I dislike most of all....lol!!!
Still I soldiered on like a good old daree.....no such word I know......and here is my effort.
I expect I will be put in the corner for this one as I cheated a teensy weensy bit by using an embellishment I had made some time ago.
The flower on the chipboard circle is stamped over a background of fluid chalk inks and embellished with a white gel pen then triple embossed. I added the brad today.
I doodled the stems and added small brads to look like buds.
Finished off with a MM rub on on a scallop punched oval, a couple more brads and a quick doodle round the scallops.
I shall have to look at everyone else's later today as I am soooooo tired just now that I am falling asleep on the keyboard.
Night night

TandaStamps-Klimt

Oh I do so love getting new stamps to play with.....especially when they are as gorgeous as these Klimt style stamps which Sue Law has designed for TandaStamps
Of course I had to have a play and here is the card I made with one image from Set 1 and a border from the other set.
The background is just a piece of plain smooth card which I have dabbed with Colourbox Fluid Chalk Inks. The image is stamped in Stazon-Jet Black straight onto the background and I have added colour using pencils and Gamsol. Highlighting has been done with a white gel pen.
I masked off the image and stamped the border to look as if it was behind the main image.
After removing that mask I masked around the image and dabbed with Versamark, added clear embossing powder and heated.
Finished off with a thin black pen border and some brads then layered on to a black mat then a cream card.

Two very inspiring stamp sets which I will be playing with a lot more methinks.

DCM-Love and Friendship

Here is my card for the 'dare' over at Daring Cardmakers. This week the theme is love and friendship so I have made this card to send to a friend.
Paper is K & Co from one of the Designer Mat Pads. Flower and brad is MM. Stamp was out of a 50p clearance bin at Craft Central....not sure whose it is.
I'm off to check out the other cards now

Time For A New Challenge!!!

I know that it is a bit of a shock to see me posting at this time of the day but I just wanted to tell you all about the new weekly challenge over at the TandaStamps blog.
Tanda Teaser's will be set every Wednesday morning with Wendy and I taking turns in choosing the theme.
As with all challenges if you would like to take part then post a link to your work in the comments and we will all come and look and admire.
Wendy launched the challenges on Saturday and I have set the next one today HERE.........come on over and play.
Here are my two cards for this week's challenge which is to use music somewhere in your design. The background for these gorgeous Retro Man images by Tandastamps was a bit of an experiment.
I took a piece of silver mirror card and distressed it with a heat gun. This made it go mottled and cloudy in parts. I then brushed it over with Walnut Ink and dried it with the heat gun then gave it a second layer and dried again.
As the Walnut Ink is waterbased I then spritzed it with hairspray to set it.
I used the music stamp from the Backgrounds 1 set by Tandastamps and stamped that all over using Timber Brown Stazon, mounted the piece onto some dark brown card and distressed the edges by dragging down them with the blade of my scissors.
The man and the microphone have been stamped in Versafine-Onyx Black and embossed with clear powder. I then coloured them in with pencils and odourless mineral spirits.
The records were stamped onto some distress effect gold card and punched with a circle punch.
This card is just a very quick and easy card using a circle design paper by Hot Off The Press.
I have stamped the record image using Espresso ink and then added some depth with a coloured pencil.
The 'Just A Note' stamp is by Creative Expressions.
Thanks for dropping by

Daring Cardmakers-Little Extra 12 02 08

My card for the DCM Little Extra which is for a Valentine card with black and red ribbon.
The tag is doodled......yep I am still addicted.......lol!!!
The heart is silver mirror card done in a small Cuttlebug embossing folder and cut out. It has then been sponged with Stazon Jet Black.
Hopefully this is the last of the Valentine cards for this year as I have had enough of them now.

Well I must go and add the finishing touches to my card for the Tanda Teaser tomorrow. It is the first day of what will become our regular challenge day so if you fancy joining in you'll be very welcome.
Bye for now

Tanda Teaser-A Shining Example

Tandastamps have just started a weekly card making challenge HERE and the first challenge was set by Wendy McGlinchey.
The first challenge is called A Shining Example and invites you to use something bright and shiny on your cards.
If you want to share your artwork then please visit the blog and leave a link to your blog or wherever you show your cards.
These challenges are not limited to only stamping. Whatever your style you are welcome to take part.

I was all set to get stamping for this challenge using some Tanda images when I got a phone call for a special order and what with one thing and another I have not een able to catch up and get a stamped card done. Out of the five cards I had to make this was the only one with shiny bits on so I have had to post this one.
Look out on Wednesday for a new challenge which will be set by yours truly.

Thanks for dropping by

Daring Cardmakers-Sketch 08.02.08

Here is my card for this weeks 'dare' over at Daring Cardmakers which is a sketch.
I'm not normally a sketch person but I thought I would have a bash at it and you never know I might get lucky in the draw.
The colours look a bit scary but that is the scan. IRL the bottom circle is a lovely soft lime.
As you can see I have been putting my doodling into practice. I seem to have become a tad hooked since the last dare. Nothing is safe from my UniPin pen or my white gel pen.........mmmmm the dog would look fab with white dots on his nose.......lol!!!
Anyhoo.....the card is house shaped and I got the template for that from Mirkwood Designs I think.
Circles are cut using the Sizzix Circles. Fence is also Sizzix. Lots of doodling and the chipboard flower is out of a tin of K & Co embellishments.
Oh and I did a bit of distressing with a MM Asphalt ink pad using a sponge.

Thanks for looking
Have a fab weekend

Daring Cardmakers Little Extra-Doodled Borders

Here is a quick card I have done for the DCM Little Extra this week. There is a tutorial by the fabulous Jo on Doodling for borders and she would like us to have a go at that.
My background border is made with a Dottariffic pen in Mint Green with the centre dots added using a black Dottariffic pen and outlined with white gel pen.
Other doodling includes line and stitch border and flower centre swirls just to pull the look together.
I loved this one Jo........more please!!!

Stamp A Day Raffle!!!

In my last post I said I was going to be doing a Stamp A Day raffle in aid of the Ellenor Wiseman Trust which you can read about and follow the progress of HERE.
I read Kirsty's blog every day. Although I am not a scrapper I just find her blog compulsive reading and have fallen completely in love with her beautiful daughter Ellie.......also known as Belle.
So I want to raise some money for this gorgeous little girl and I want you to help me.
Every day......until supplies are exhausted......I am going to be raffling off a stamp. Some stamps will be brand new and unused others might be slightly used and there will be a mix of mounted and unmounted stamps, single stamps and bags of assorted stamps.
Here are the rules for the raffle-:
If you would like to win the stamp you will need to be prepared to make a donation to the fund in exchange for the stamp.
To win just add your name to the comments section for that day and
number your comment following on numerically from the previous comment.
At midnight GMT I will use Random.org to generate a winner and announce it shortly after. I will also post the next stamp at that time.
If you are the winner you will need to make a donation directly to the fund and not to me.
Once you have made your donation contact me via the e mail address in the sidebar of my blog to let me know that you have made your donation and also to give me your full name and address details.
The amount of your donation is your private affair and you do not need to let me know how much you have given.
All packages for the week will be posted together on a Friday as this is the one day I know that I can guarantee to get to the post office.
Posts will be deleted as stamps are won and any that are unsold on the day of posting will be left in place.
You will be able to view them by clicking on STAMPS FOR BELLE in the labels list in the side bar.
Sheila

Edited to add-I am quoting the stamp prices to give an idea of their worth. You are not expected to donate that amount. Whatever you can give will be very much appreciated.

Daring Cardmakers-Red and White!!!

Over at DCM this week the team are daring us to use red and white on our cards and this is my effort. I was going to do stamping in white Brilliance onto red card but I don't have any nice red card left as I haven't restocked yet after Christmas so I have made do with this red spotty paper I found in my stash. I used the scalloped ruler I made out of my Fancy Pants stamp packaging for the edge and then cut out little scalloped hearts with a punch. They don't look it on the scan but they are quite dimensional as I have folded and glued three hearts..........just like Dawn Bibby does with the peeloff butterflies. I then cut an extra heart to glue over the top as I didn't like the crease down the middle. Stems have been nicked off some paper roses that were going in the bin and these are tied together with a piece of crystal organza ribbon.
Love stamp is by Hero Arts.

Well I am soooooo disappointed......we were warned that our area would have approximately four inches of snow today and I was dead excited. I might have known it wouldn't appear. All we got was a hail storm and about six snowflakes. I wished I had had a video camera though to film the hail storm as it was quite spectacular. My workroom overlooks fields and at the bottom of the first field there is a band of trees and we were watching how far they were bending in the wind when the sky went as black as pitch and we saw the hail storm moving in from behind the trees. It was really beautiful in a strange kind of way. I still feel cheated that we didn't get the snow though........lol!!!

I have had lots of visitors since I posted the Bind It All Ribbon Storage book I made.......thank you all for dropping by.
I know not everyone has a BIA but that needn't stop you from making a similar kind of system. If using plastic as I did just use a permanent pen and a ruler to mark out the notches you need down the sides and then cut out with a craft knife or scissors. Punch a couple of holes in the top and use book rings in place of BIA wires.

Hubby dropped a bit of a bombshell last night. There is a good chance that he can get a job in New Zealand and he asked me what I thought of us moving out there if he was successful..........well I know we were on about moving house but I was thinking you know maybe a bit more local than that.......lol!!! However I am game if he is so we'll see how things go.

On Monday I will be launching a fundraising Stamp A Day raffle in aid of the Ellenore Wiseman Fund........you can read about it HERE I have lots of unused and lightly used stamps which I will raffle off for donations to the fund. Full details and appropriate links will be posted on Monday so please come back and support this very worthy cause.

Right I am off to carry on my snow watch......lol!!!
Bye for now

ETA-Anniki I have tried and tried to leave a comment on your blog and it won't let me
so I'll just say here that your card is gorgeous.
